Making Money Online
What I’d like to talk about today is how to make money online and how to be successful with making money online. We can agree, I believe that with a little effort most anyone could make a few dollars here and there online. However, not everyone is wildly successful and I’d like to explore with you some likely reasons for this. It is my belief that if you apply the knowledge that you’ve gained in training, you can have much success.
Training Program & How important is it?
You might think it would be obvious just how important the training you enroll is, but, it’s not so obvious if you are just getting started and know zero about online marketing, affiliate programs, and the list goes on. The training program is the # One factor in my mind that will determine success or failure for you as an affiliate marketer and having a home based business online.
Choosing Your Niche
You can choose whatever you’d like for your Niche. Whether it be a physical product or a digital product, it must be something that you are truly interested in. The reason being, that you will be spending an inordinate amount of time writing about it. You will need to feel a passion for it in order to write quality content for your blog or website. Choose carefully, don’t rush into it because, we know that haste makes waste 🙂 Check back soon for more on how to find your passion (niche).
Create Content to Beat Competition
To Beat your competition in the new marketing era you will have to stand out from your competition. One way to do this is to write an extensive post/guide up to 3,000 words on a subject that your audience will have an avid interest in. A quality, well-written post like this will also drive Google ranking up for you, but, it must be written in a way that will surpass the best existing page out there, from the design & share-ability to page speed and on-page SEO.
Building a Strong Brand
Something else that affiliate marketers must deal with these days is the brand-bias that is coming from Google. This is a fairly recent development from Google and of concern for affiliates who in the past only had to worry about writing quality content. It is a fact today that “user trust” is vital and only by building your brand can this trust be established.
Foundation of Recurring Revenue
With the ongoing changes in the world of affiliate marketing today one cannot take for granted that an effective strategy this month will be effective still next month. Whether it’s due to Google changes ( remember Panda, Penguin), or your favorite affiliate program closing or rising costs of media buying, you must prepare for the possibility of major change.
If the option is available, you should opt for recurring income so that no matter what changes come at you, you will be confident that you’re okay for the near future with your income set up to keep coming in, it’s called “Peace of Mind”.
Don’t Rely on a Single Traffic Source
Ideally, you should own your audience, as opposed to renting it. If you must rent, use multiple sources, remembering that Google is full of surprises on a regular basis.
Be Prepared for Mobile
Today, mobile marketing accounts for more than 50% of all clicks, and affiliate retail sales 25%. If you are not directing to mobile-friendly sites you are losing a huge amount of potential commissions, leaving money on the table, as Kyle says! Google now uses mobile friendliness checker and displaying whether a page is mobile friendly or not, in the search results. Be prepared for mobile or get left behind.
Take Note of Trends
There are seasonal trends that are predictable and you can prepare for in advance, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and Halloween. Breakout trends are less predictable and they account for hundreds of new, weird and wonderful multi-million dollar niches every year.
To find these seasonal trends you can utilize a couple of different search engines, Google Trends is great for seasonal trends. Breakout trends you may want to read predictions of the experts in your niche. For example, search queries at Trend Watching.com for travel trends and you might see something like the image below.
Topic Targeting, Not Keyword Targeting
Rather than focusing on the Best tools for gardening, focus on the Right tools for gardening. You’ll get relevant long-tail traffic to your content. This does not mean you don’t need keywords, just target the topic rather than the keywords.
To sum it up, for you, you must get creative and outfox your competition and prove your worth in the value chain, to be successful in affiliate marketing.
